Snow in Jerusalem<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Whiteness gleams and weighs heavy on all<\/p>\n

For even a holy city, if there be any, id not<\/p>\n

tax exempt when the tax is<\/p>\n

heavy and wet and white.<\/p>\n

The golden dome capped in white sleeping hat<\/p>\n

surely must have slumbered<\/p>\n

as no calls rose from the peaks<\/p>\n

for the calls were beat down by the snow<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

which also showed those walls of Herod what is<\/p>\n

realy strong<\/p>\n

and how man is weak<\/p>\n

as the stone weeped and<\/p>\n

rotted.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As the Torah goes from Tzion<\/p>\n

in came the whiteness<\/p>\n

wet and wild<\/p>\n

the hills — sometimes green and sometimes brown —<\/p>\n

lost their brown quickly and painlessly<\/p>\n

surely<\/p>\n

but not forever<\/p>\n

and all that marked the pureness were the green<\/p>\n

beacons rising slowly but ever straight<\/p>\n

and the hills shone in the sun<\/p>\n

for twice there was sun through<\/p>\n

the grey<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

other trees were luckless<\/p>\n

and fell<\/p>\n

after fighting the great white father<\/p>\n

hard but they wearied<\/p>\n

and spirits weakened<\/p>\n

they could not hold up their shields<\/p>\n

so they toppled<\/p>\n

softly<\/p>\n

crashing<\/p>\n

into hard ground eased by whiteness<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

or they bravely stood<\/p>\n

and fought<\/p>\n

hoping and praying for warmth<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Those roads, those slow and tortuous<\/p>\n

desparately winding roads<\/p>\n

disappeared<\/p>\n

gobbled and hidden away<\/p>\n

Hoping perhaps to be used again one day soon.<\/p>\n

Man nor beast could find those roads.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Hungry people<\/p>\n

not yet hungry in their stomachs<\/p>\n

but hungry in their minds<\/p>\n

hungry in their hearts<\/p>\n

made empty by snow.<\/p>\n

hungry people rank and bought<\/p>\n

the bread of life and milk<\/p>\n

white as snow.<\/p>\n
