All you will do for 2-3 weeks is think about Teshuvah.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Reb Zusya (who the heavenly court will not ask \u2018Why were you not like Moses\u2019 but will ask \u2018Why were you not like Zusya\u2019) gave an acronym for Teshuva<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>T<\/strong>amim \u2013 Be sincere with your God<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sh<\/strong>iviti \u2013 I have set God before me always<\/p>\n<p><strong>U<\/strong>V\u2019ahavata \u2013 Love your fellow as yourself<\/p>\n<p><strong>V<\/strong>\u2019chol \u2013In all your ways know him<\/p>\n<p><strong>H<\/strong>atznei\u2019a \u2013 Walk discreetly with your God<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Here are 7 epigrams about Teshuvah, each based on a different aliyah from this morning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>1) Use Teshuvah to increase the fullness and productivity of your life &#8212; recognizing that it must be your style of fullness and productivity \u2013 not somebody else\u2019s definition (Proof text: Ch 31, v 1-3)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>2) Teshuvah is not easy &#8212; it requires strength and courage (Proof text: Ch 31, v 6)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>3) Do not get stuck living in the past &#8212; we all can change (Proof text: Ch 31, v 7)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>4) Sometimes we need help with Teshuvah \u2013 when this is true assemble the team that you need to help you achieve your goals (Proof text: Ch 31, v 12)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>5) Teshuvah requires that we do not rationalize our faults, but take responsibility for them (Proof text: Ch 31, v17-18)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>6) There is no such thing as effortless Teshuvah (Proof text, ch 31, v 20-21)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>7) Even after having done Teshuvah, it is easy to fall back into old ways (Ch 31, v 27, 29)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Productivity<\/p>\n<p>Strength and courage<\/p>\n<p>Look forward not backwards<\/p>\n<p>Count on others when needed<\/p>\n<p>No excuses<\/p>\n<p>Put in effort<\/p>\n<p>Be careful of sliding back<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Drash Cards for Vayeilech (5776) By Marc Mangel Want to be ready for Teshuvah next year: volunteer to give a drash in mid-Elul, on RH day 1 or 2, and then Shabbat Shuvah.
