{"id":1880,"date":"2015-10-27T00:44:15","date_gmt":"2015-10-27T00:44:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/marcmangel.net\/?page_id=1880"},"modified":"2015-10-27T00:44:15","modified_gmt":"2015-10-27T00:44:15","slug":"kedoshim-5765","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/marcmangel.net\/?page_id=1880","title":{"rendered":"Kedoshim (5765)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Drash Cards for Kedoshim (5765)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>by Marc Mangel<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 As always, I note what Shlomo taught us some years ago: Acherei Mot Kedoshim Emor<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Today I want to focus on Ch 19, v \u00a018: Love your neighbor as yourself.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Akiva said that this as the Klal gad &#8212; fundamental principle &#8212; of Judaism.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ben Azzai objected and said that Genesis 5:1 is superior as the fundamental principle.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Hillel revised this to &#8220;What is hateful to you do not do to your neighbor&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The Buir asked &#8220;Why would God command something beyond our capacity &#8212; and that hate and love are beyond our capacity.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 But \u00a0Ramban said that this is a qualitative issue: &#8220;Whenever our love of others does not clash with our legitimate interests, we are obligated to promote our fellows&#8217; welfare just as we would our own&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Even Jesus talked about this. In \u00a0Mark 12:28-31 we find the Shma and Love Your Neighbor. In Luke 10;25-38 Jesus says to have eternal life \u00a0love God (V&#8217;Ahafta) and love your neighbor as yourself<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 R.
