Perhaps thje 3001th customer<\/p>\n<p>is the one who counts who gets the prize the grand<\/p>\n<p>prize trip to peace and happiness and goodness and enough<\/p>\n<p>food and no more war&#8230;no more&#8230;no&#8230;And the exodus is done.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The exodus is done. The tramping through sog and scratch<\/p>\n<p>until the legs bleed because of these sharp reeds. The<\/p>\n<p>burning sun and only tasteless, poisonned water to drink<\/p>\n<p>and sometimes desert mind drives us to insantiy.<\/p>\n<p>Cold nights<\/p>\n<p>crying animals<\/p>\n<p>wounded animals<\/p>\n<p>scared animals<\/p>\n<p>waiting lying to make us into a good breakfast. Hot days<\/p>\n<p>so hot that death itself can be seen on the horizon waiting<\/p>\n<p>to whisk us on the boiling air that rises from the ground.<\/p>\n<p>Yet the exodus is over.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The exodus is over. Once more a law to be shattered as two<\/p>\n<p>frail clay tablets against a golden calf.\u00a0 Once more a law<\/p>\n<p>just and righteous yet ignored for fear of work.\u00a0 Once more<\/p>\n<p>the law of Moses the Law of God yet the pig of man does not<\/p>\n<p>obey and for forty years they roamed the desert.\u00a0 Yet<\/p>\n<p>we have an exodus of only one week. And the exodus is consumed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The exodus is consumed. And the exodus is consumed in a land<\/p>\n<p>of green and wildflowers and blue and mountains that rise<\/p>\n<p>firmly sharply and happily.\u00a0 And the land is a soft land<\/p>\n<p>waiting. Or the land is a hard land also waiting waiting to<\/p>\n<p>break waiting to injure waiting to wear us into the ground<\/p>\n<p>into the earth to fertilize the nothingness that the land<\/p>\n<p>doesn&#8217;t want to yield.\u00a0 Yes the land is ready.\u00a0 And the exodus<\/p>\n<p>is finished.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Once more the exodus is finished.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>April 1973<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One More Exodus by Marc Mangel One more exodus is finished.
