{"id":652,"date":"2014-07-24T14:29:15","date_gmt":"2014-07-24T14:29:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/marcmangel.net\/?page_id=652"},"modified":"2014-07-24T14:29:15","modified_gmt":"2014-07-24T14:29:15","slug":"chamsin-1972-73","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/marcmangel.net\/?page_id=652","title":{"rendered":"Chamsin (1972-73)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Chamsin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>by Marc Mangel<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tiny weeds of sand floating in from above and below<\/p>\n<p>floating and landing and seeding for others to<\/p>\n<p>come until they cover like a gentle and soft<\/p>\n<p>snow that quietly blankets the country<\/p>\n<p>at night.<\/p>\n<p>Certainly better than a blizzard of sand burning<\/p>\n<p>and choking and tearing the<\/p>\n<p>esophagus until our mucus is like mud.<\/p>\n<p>Peaceful bundles of sand so small as to be barely<\/p>\n<p>seen yet each the home of a billion molecules<\/p>\n<p>which probably want to be there even less<\/p>\n<p>than you want them to<\/p>\n<p>yet what can be done<\/p>\n<p>peaceful bundles alighting everywhere in such<\/p>\n<p>secrecy that until inspection they remain<\/p>\n<p>invisible<\/p>\n<p>slightly colored they change the face of each encounter<\/p>\n<p>records once black now ting brown and<\/p>\n<p>brown now browner or less brown like a<\/p>\n<p>magic powder that chamelions use<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And taking the sand moving the sand<\/p>\n<p>is the warming wind<\/p>\n<p>warming<\/p>\n<p>everywhere as it deposits the sand and<\/p>\n<p>goes back for more<\/p>\n<p>the wind each tree despises<\/p>\n<p>and each man curses<\/p>\n<p>the wind that is life and death and it is<\/p>\n<p>breath but breath that chokes<\/p>\n<p>for once the wind has too died the<\/p>\n<p>soft sand remains<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>1972-73<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chamsin by Marc Mangel &nbsp; Tiny weeds of sand floating in from above and below floating and landing and seeding for others to come until they cover like a gentle and soft snow that quietly blankets the country at night.
