Metamorphosis (for Bethi)<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Caterpillars become butterflies<\/p>\n

and babies become children<\/p>\n

but for the caterpillar it is<\/p>\n

easier<\/p>\n

she’s got a cocoon to hide<\/p>\n

the pain and the hurt and<\/p>\n

the uncertainty of change<\/p>\n

for the child<\/p>\n

it is not so easy<\/p>\n

she has no cocoon<\/p>\n

And I watch her,<\/p>\n

sometimes with pain<\/p>\n

and sometimes with glee<\/p>\n

because the metamorphosis<\/p>\n

is a pleasure to see<\/p>\n

Her pain is real<\/p>\n

and her tears are real<\/p>\n

but through it all<\/p>\n

a butterfly emerges<\/p>\n
