A Shabbat Poem for My Best Friend (1986)

A Shabbat Poem for My Best Friend

by Marc Mangel

You are my true best friend

and if I’m lucky, will be so

to the end

I need your warmth and I need your love

They mean so much to me

Without them I could not be free

Your smile graces our house and more

Your spirit helps others to soar

And achieve new heights galore

We’ve been together for such a long time

I wish it forever — for finding you

was a goldmine.

“A valiant wife” — a hackneyed phrase?

I don’t think so — for you are one

and will be so to the end of days

I love you hon.
