The New Year

Years come and go

some good some bad

some not much at all

but each and all at one time were new

new today

new in hope

and new in joy new in

what might be or in what perhaps

may be

 

But old

since we rarely learn or try

to

from what has been or

what might have been

the mistakes of yesterday

with the seven o’clock news

and our last cup of wine

 

so as the new year comes and tomorrow

it is old

we think of what we should have learned

from the past and maybe learn
