Shabbat Poem for Susan (1986)

Shabbat Poem for Susan

by Marc Mangel

If I had not met you

I’d be so empty and so blue

If you were not my wife

There’d be such loneliness in my life.

You are my true best friend

and will be so to the very end.

Your smile graces our home and more

Your spirit helps others to soar.

A valiant wife — a hackneyed phrase —

I don’t think so.

You’ll be one to the end of days.

I love you hon.
