On the Occassion of Buying a Lollipop

People oft forget

as older they get

what it means to be

young and to be important

and to be in business for

THE first time.

 

So people pass them up and

sneer ‘kids are kids’

but all the kids do is smile

and reflect the emptiness

into the adults’ faces

 

and whenever i can

cause someone is selling

 

‘aw come on mister, its only 2 cents”

 

then i’m always buying

and giving it to someone

who i think will

dig  lollipops
